Rex’s practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications in various electrical, electro-mechanical, and mechanical fields.  He has experience in semiconductors, aerospace, medical devices, defense and military devices, and the oil and gas industry.

Prior to joining Colby Nipper PLLC, Rex was a patent attorney with the law firms of Parsons, Behle, and Latimer, Zarian Midgley & Johnson, IP legal Team, and Howrey Simon Arnold & White.

Technical Experience

Semiconductors: Variable resistance memory devices, face-down dual-sided chip memory packages, optically activated transistor, switch, and photodiodes, pillar array for semiconductor device assemblies, silicon interposers with fuse-selectable routing arrays

Electrical and RF fields:  Battery-life estimation, inductive charging, near-field communication, and charging leads

Computing Technology Fields:  Cryptography, dynamic loading, and threat detectors

Mechanical: Solvent traps, modular baffles, force dampeners, oilfield drilling and packing devices

Health Technologies:  Nerve stimulation, in-vivo power and charging, medical devices
