Ryan drafts and prosecutes patent applications in a variety of mechanical and software applications, including robotics and end effector systems, lifting and positioning systems, rapid prototyping, accelerometers, gyroscopes, image and video processing techniques, virtual/augmented reality, and communications.

Ryan was formerly a lead mechanical engineer and project manager for Fibrwrap, a composite retrofitting company.  While there, Ryan was responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of an automated carbon fiber placement machine for use in high pressure water distribution pipelines as well as various other mechanical design projects, such as glue machines, carbon saturation machines, and mixing machines.

Ryan was also formerly a facilities engineer at Hydranautics, a reverse osmosis company, where he led mechanical development of both manual and automated systems for reverse osmosis membrane production, element construction, and packaging.

Ryan is also a registered Professional Engineer in the state of California.
